About Genuine Diamond Ring
Diamond is an expensive stone. So, you must ensure its genuineness before finally buying it. Moreover if you are buying this diamond as gift for an important occasion like marriage, engagement or anniversary, checking the authenticity of Diamond Rings becomes even more significant. Because, gifting a fake diamond will not only tarnish your image but also, bring in unnecessary tensions.
It is much known by now that a diamond stone is graded on 4 C’s namely –
- Color
- Carat
- Cut
- Clarity
Though it is impossible to ensure quality diamond through naked eyes, you can always demand for precision instruments to check through the diamonds. You have full right to ensure whatever you are buying is worth the money paid for. A full proof way of securing your transaction in diamonds is to first buy from a reputed and branded diamond store. Secondly, always ask for a diamond certificate along with purchase. If in future, you feel that you have been doped, you can always get back to the store dealer and you also have proof of transaction to drag him even to court if required.
Usually some stores try to sell off zircon in place of diamond. Look and sheen wise both diamond and zircon seem similar to naked eyes. But with a little experience and with a simple magnifying glass you can very easily make out the difference. Some jewelers might also try to cheat by using glass in place of diamonds. To identify this, again simple magnifying glass comes to aid; if the stone has visible air bubbles it is surely fake. Diamond stone can never have air bubbles.
Now there is a small experiment you can do to distinguish Genuine Diamond from its fake counterparts. Just blow hard on the diamond, if the fog clears out immediately then it is definitely genuine because diamond does not allow fog to settle on it.
Always remember that no branded jewel store will sell diamond in any other material than gold or platinum or titanium. These metals support diamond setting well. If some one tries to sell you very cheap diamonds because they are set in a cheap metal then you need to think twice.
It is best to do a little research about the shop that you finally pin down to buy, be it online store. Just surf through the internet, check their reviews, testimonials etc and give sometime before you finally buy diamonds.
